SUPERIOR AGATES' SUCCESS STORY

BEAUTIFUL ADORNMENTS FOR YOU WITH MARIE'S HANDMADE JEWELRY

Beautiful Art for your neck and ears! That's what Marie's craft truly is... Lovely to look at and compliments galore when you wear it for your world to see!

Marie's brass wire cross pendant was recently featured in THE CLOSET CO-OP'S Etsy Treasury and a YouTube video (links posted below). It's just STUNNING with old-world charm and detail that might just remind you of something right out of a page from the history of the middle ages. Can't you just imagine one of the ladies at King Arthur's court wearing this cross on a silk cord around her neck? And what about those earrings that match!

No doubt! Marie is a hard worker, loves her craft and derives joy from it. It shows in all her works of ART! She was also recently featured in a newspaper (Mille Lacs Messenger) article!

HER STORY...
"In May 2009, I lost my job due to a health issue I couldn't control. After working all my life and never being without a job for longer that a couple days, I was devastated to say the least. This is "who I am" was my way of thinking... I'm a work-a-holic... I love to work –what would I do? I think I cried for 2 weeks!

The week before I was terminated, I put in 111 hours in a single week! Even though I was tired, I loved it. "Work me more!" LOL! Well, I'm jobless now. What would I do? I had a garage sale to pass a little time and made a few bucks. But, this guy showed up on a motorcycle and notices I had a rock pit behind my house! He wanted to know if he could hunt agates sometime... "What's an agate?!" I had no clue, but that was my introduction in to the world of rocks and stones.

All summer, I hunted them, nine or 10 hours a day, and I got into tumbling them for polishing. Soon though, after I saw how long it took to get agates to a shine – six months or more – I figured out there had to be something else I could do with them!

In September 2009, I started to learn how to wire wrap. I thought my wraps were a JOKE to say the least! But, I was determined to learn and kept at it. By December, I had the hang of it and was buying supplies to use in my wrapping. Now how in the world was I gonna get some of that money back?

I opened my Etsy shop at the end of January 2010, and have had a blast learning all there is to know about making it work. I also joined Facebook to start a business page, but had no idea how to even work it. Then I found #LINKLOVE and the rest is history! I don't even remember HOW I found it! But, it was probably by accident, since I didn't even know how Facebook worked. And, unfortunately I don't know who introduced it to me - but I love fan/liking business/fan pages and challenging myself to see how many I can get done in one day. Especially if I run across someone's #LINKLOVE discussion topic that has 20 or more posts! I will go through each of them, individually, and find everyone I have not fan/liked yet. Sometimes more than 200 in a day, but it's fun for me!

Still a work-aholic, I am now all about my jewelry and learning more about my craft. I am still out of the traditional work force world, but I am having a blast with my jewelry making!"

QUESTION: If you had to attribute one thing to "Link Love," what would that one thing be?
ANSWER: "FUN! Oh, wow! All the business/fan pages full of gorgeous items you get to see and meeting new people, which I am no good at, #LINKLOVE makes that part easy for someone like me!"

QUESTION: If a new fan asked you for advice and what to do to increase their fan base and exposure to the world, what would you tell them?
ANSWER: "Create a discussion tab right away, with the #LINKLOVE Topic created, then get to fan/liking other pages. Then begin posting and working links to those who also have the #LINKLOVE Topic set up, and always make sure to return the fan/likes for your page. Check your discussion topic regularly!"

QUESTION: If you ran into some one opposed to #LINKLOVE, what might you say to sway their opinion?
ANSWER: "If you have not tried it, then you should! If you have tried it, and folks did not fan/like you back and that is the reason you hate it - then lets talk about what you did or did not do... Did you have a topic set up in your discussions? Did you return all the fan/likes to your page? Did you step outside the box, and ask someone else to help you? Maybe you should try again!"

QUESTION: How often do you hit the other business/fan pages' discussion topics?
ANSWER: "I try to hit them every other day and sometimes, everyday!"

QUESTION: What other good things could you say about #LINKLOVE?
ANSWER: "It's fun, easy, you make new friends, and get to see all the wonderful talent there is out there! My fan base is up, my Etsy hearts are up, and my sales are up... So, I think that pretty much says it all!"

CROCHETED BY DIANA'S #LINKLOVE SUCCESS STORY

ADMIRING A REAL CLASSIC TREAT FOR THE EYES WITH DIANA'S HANDMADE ITEMS...

Ahhh... "Lady Di"
I call her that because, she has those qualities that make her special! 1. She's got a great deal of patience. She waited very patiently, and I mean "very patiently," for me to finish "those other things" before I could get back to this blog with her story. LOL! And 2. She's a very warm, sweet and courteous woman. In essence... she is our "Lady Di!"

Not only is she fully participating in #LINKLOVE, but she's kind and loving enough to make time to spend with friends who desperately need her in a crisis! Diana is some one we all should get to know better, because she embodies all the qualities that make her a GREAT friend.

Her Story...
"I worked most of my life, then was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia in July 2008. It took 11 months for the doctors to figure out what was wrong. I tried my hardest to continue to work, but had to quit my job in September 2009. I just couldn’t do it anymore. Without a job, I couldn’t keep my apartment either! So I packed all my belongings, put the majority in a storage unit, moved back home to my mother’s house, and applied for disability.

My mom was crocheting this huge rectangular tablecloth, as I watched her, I wished I had the patience to make something that large. Knowing I can no longer do what I really wanted to do anymore, I figured it was time to see what I could do... I searched her patterns and found a butterfly I wanted to make, got her extra hook and some yarn. Then to my surprise, I found I could do it without it hurting my hands and wrists. I was so excited I had to find other things to make!

I crocheted doilies and things I wanted for myself, then I moved back to Pennsylvania where most of the family lives including my son and his wife!  He's married to Mandy, Eileen’s daughter (from Painting by Eileen). We spent a lot of time talking and I helped her when I could by painting base coats on her items. We talked about Etsy and Facebook and she showed me how to get started. I created my FB business/fan page and an Etsy shop January 2010. The day I sent her my links in an email, she posted them on her fan page and asked for some help from her #LINKLOVE fan/likes.

As I sat there and watched the fan/like numbers climb, there were so many – I could hardly keep up! Then I decided to do what all the advice said to do and started a discussion topic for #LINKLOVE on my page. It was amazing to see! I had this huge grin on my face and my heart swelled with love for all the wonderful people who gave me such amazing compliments and help.

Currently, I'm making as much inventory as I can to ship to Chicago for a new boutique that wants to sell my crochet. I am just blown away from all the help, love, support and advice from all these wonderful #LINKLOVE people. I've made friends with many of thme had it not been for #LINKLOVE! When I see someone starting out, I want them to experience the same amazement that I did and do all I can to help them along.

Every time there is an accomplishment or benchmark made you can count on Vic from Runway Crochet, Eileen from Painting by Eileen, and Elfie from Painting from the Heart to be there to cheer them on! There are so many wonderful, supportive, and caring people in this group. I am so glad I gave it a try!"

QUESTION: If you had to attribute one thing to #LINKLOVE, what would that one thing be?

ANSWER: "I would not be where I am today without #LINKLOVE. If you need some ideas or suggestions on anything, you can always get support from caring people who will help in every way. The support of this group is the best thing I could have ever hoped for.

QUESTION: If a new fan asked you for advice and what to do to increase their fan base and exposure to the world (SEO), what would you tell them?

ANSWER: "I'd tell them to go to my business/fan page discussion topic to check out all the links to the wonderful shops and creations. Start fanning/liking, following adding all the links, and leave your links for them. They'll be amazed at what will happen! The more you do – the more you get."

QUESTION: If you ran into some one opposed to #LINKLOVE, what might you say to sway their opinion?

ANSWER: "You just need to experience #LINKLOVE to see for yourself! We support each other and it’s not about the sale. However, the more people who see your creations, the better chance of getting the sale you would like in the end. We are the most caring, supportive, and uplifting group you could want to be part of!"

QUESTION: How often do you hit the other business/fan pages' discussion topics?

ANSWER: "As often as I can! It seems there are new people everyday and I try my best to keep up. But, sometimes... life gets in the way."

QUESTION: What other good things could you say about #LINKLOVE?

ANSWER: "If you are looking for support, friends, uplifting moments – all you need to do is get involved with #LINKLOVE! You will have everything you looked for and so much more. I can’t say enough about these wonderful people!"

Diana crochets lovely and timeless treasures. These items are among the classic and honored traditions of being proudly displayed in the home or office! There is just something so lovely and feminine in these items.  She told me she learned to crochet from her mother. Diana uses #10 crochet cotton on all the doilies and similar items with a size 7 hook. She also uses worsted weight cotton with mainly a G hook to make spa baskets, towels, wash cloths, shower puffs, and soap savers, as basket type gifts.  She finds crocheting very relaxing and puts her heart and soul into everything she makes. She's also a perfectionist! She says she wouldn't want to sell anything to anyone that didn't first, suit her. Take a look at these beautiful samples!

APRONS BY MEME'S "LINK LOVE" SUCCESS STORY

COOKING UP SOME GOODIES IN THE KITCHEN CAR WITH KRIS...

One of the warmest, kindest, most selfless people, I know on this "Link Lovin' " train is Kris with Aprons by MeMe! She's always there to help give ANYONE a "push" by reposting their fan page link to her wall and alerting her nearly 3000 fans. She's also one of the original "Magnificent Seven," who started with "Link Love," as we know it on Facebook during the latter part of 2009 and beginning of 2010. Kris rarely misses a beat with the NEWBIES! She's one of the one's to go to - to get a big boost with a new start!

Kris has a fantastic following of caring, sharing fans! Happy to say that I'm only one of them! Are you? She also has many friends and I lay claim as one of those, too!

Her story...

"I remember starting a fan page on January 11, because my best friend, KraftyMaxOriginals said it would be a great idea! She helped set up my Etsy Shop and she knew her way around the internet. I posted a few of my dish towel aprons and before I knew it - I had 40 fans! Then every time I would post a comment or show one of my aprons, there in the comments would be the sweet smiling face of Elfie, from Painting From the Heart. She always had such encouraging words to say and truly loved my aprons. That was where I first heard of 'Link Love.' "

"I visited Elfies fan page and found Vickey from RunwayCrochet. As I scrolled down their pages I saw support, encouragement and real caring for all of their fans. On January 14, I posted my links to Vic's discussion board for 'Link Love' and after working through all the links in her discussions I posted on Elfie's discussion board for 'Link Love' and started going through those links. I found so many wonderful crafters, artisans, jewelers etc.!

"What I saw were like-minded people who cared and supported each other. It wasn't a competition - it was people helping people. That was something I wanted to be a part of! I love waking up every morning because I know there are people who are there for me - no matter what!!! Do I have a sewing problem? They're there! Do I have a glitch on my fan page? They're there! Do I just need a swift kick in the butt? They're there! Can I complain? They are STILL there! And, when there is a time for prayers, they are truly there!"

"My business has tripled since I started 'Link Love.' My friendships have grown to almost 3,000! THEY ARE ALL my "LINK LOVE ANGELS!!!' "

QUESTION: If you had to attribute one thing to "Link Love," what would that one thing be?

ANSWER: "I would have to say the Friendships and AMAZING Support!"

QUESTION: If a new fan asked you for advice and what to do to increase their fan base and exposure to the world, what would you tell them?
ANSWER: "Let your fingers do the walking through the 'Link Love" discussion boards.  Really check out the fan pages you are visit. If they have an Etsy, Artfire or other tab for their business take a peek.  Let them know what you think."

QUESTION: If you ran into some one opposed to "Link Love," what might you say to sway their opinion?
ANSWER: "I have had my share of 'Naysayers.'  I was hurt at first. They were bursting my bubble. But in the same day I would get a post from a fan saying, 'Thanks for the help,' 'You've made my day,' 'Thank You, Thank YOU.' The 'Naysayer' just doesn't understand the full scope of 'Link Love.' "

QUESTION: How often do you hit the other "Participant Fan Page" Discussion Boards?
ANSWER: "Whenever I am on the computer! If I ever see a little red number up there lighting up notifications, I am there."

QUESTION: What other good things could you say about "Link Love?"
ANSWER: "Vic asked me this question on January 17, when she wrote about 'LINK LOVE' on her blog!  This is what I told her then and I beleive it with all of my heart!!! 'It is networking with like-minded people. I love it because how many times in our lives do we find or meet up with people who think like we do! I have yet to meet anyone on here that is not gracious, complimenting and genuine.' "

APRONS BY MEME'S LINKS

Kris makes beautiful but practical dish towel aprons... I should know because I'm the proud owner of one! They are very well made for wear and durability, too! She also makes bibs for babies/toddlers and other unique items. If you haven't yet - go check out all her items in her Etsy Shop!

More about her craft from Kris, herself...

"I have been crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing for most of my life. I just can't sit. My hands want to move. I'm Italian! My hands are always in motion!!! I love Babies. Always wanted to have 10 children, but God knew I could only handle one. So I have been watching babies and toddlers for 30 years now."

"About two years ago, I was so frustrated because my little ones (who call me MeMe) were always running off with my dish towels. They were never handy and with babies around – you do dishes all day long! So the front of my blouses were always wet or always had spots on them from cooking."

"I can hear you saying, 'Why not wear an Apron?' That makes me laugh. I collect aprons, but I never wore them.  I couldn't tie them or they just didn't fit right and they were not very absorbent. A light bulb went off – an apron and a dish towel! There it was!!! The original (one size fits all) 'dish towel apron by MeMe!!!' Two-in-one!!! I designed a bib top that is fully lined with a very nice quilters cotton. All of the raw edges are surged so they won't fray in the wash and instead of using ties or velcro I attach a snap at the back of the bib to secure the closure."

"Shopping for the dish towels and then the material to match is such a treat. I have dish towels that are a smooth cotton people like as just an apron. Then I have a softer, plush dish towel for those who want it for the dish towel. You can also use the dish towel if you need to take something hot off the stove or out of the oven.  So now you also have a pot holder."

"I love to make cookies and other treats with my 'little ones.'  So the 'mommy and me'  dish towel aprons were created.  They can be made to match or made with coordinating dish towels. The 'little me' apron is adjustable to fit a four-year old and up.

When my sister-in-law had a stroke, I cut the dish towel in half with a little shorter bib top and there it was Again - an 'adult bib' with a soft towel to wipe their faces. Also great, if you have someone in a nursing home. I also call them, 'traveling adult bibs.' When you're on the road and need to eat in the car - you need something to protect your clothes."

"My friend asked why I didn't make something for my babies. Dish towels were too big so, I used soft and absorbent face cloths. There it was again - an original 'face cloth bib by MeMe."

"My Mom came up with the next design... she wanted something handy to put her TV remotes and telephone inside of with easy access. So I took a dish towel and found matching material. For the man of the house, I use sports team fabric.  For the woman of the house - a blend of pleasant colors.  There it was again, (wink) the 'dish towel remote control caddy' by MeMe."

"I've been nicknamed, 'the lady who can do anything with a dish towel.' " I have so many other ideas floating around! I've been asked to make bibs for the older child five, six or seven-years old."

"I love selling all of these at craft shows and enjoy meeting the people and talking about my dish towel creations.  It's so much fun!"

Some samples of Kris' work is below and in the slide show above.
